The general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has summoned the militancy of the purple formation this Thursday to a consultation to request powers for the executive to make a decision on the integration into the Sumar platform of the Vice President of the Government, Yolanda Díaz.

The consultation with the militancy began at 1:30 p.m. this Thursday and will end tomorrow, Friday at 10:00 a.m., a few hours before the deadline (tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.) to register coalitions to run in the general elections of July 23.

In a video broadcast on Twitter, Belarra has stressed that revalidating the current coalition government and deepening the social transformations of this legislature basically depends on the forces grouped in Sumar and Podemos presenting themselves in a single candidacy for the elections generals.

“As you well know, the negotiations are not being easy and that is why I want to ask for your support so that the Podemos Coordination Council is the one who negotiates and, where appropriate, reaches the agreement,” he stressed.

The consultation question leaves the decision on any agreement with Sumar in the hands of the Podemos Coordination Council, that is, its executive, which will be the one that makes the final decision. “Do you accept that the Podemos Coordination Council, following the unity criteria set by the State Citizen Council, negotiate with Sumar and, where appropriate, agree on an electoral alliance between Podemos and Sumar?”, reads the question that must be answered by the purple affiliates until tomorrow at 10.

And it is that Sumar and the leftist parties are less than 48 hours away from agreeing on a unity candidacy. From Sumar they show optimism, despite the complexities of bringing together fifteen progressive formations, and they make it clear that they do not want to wait for the last minute of the term established by the electoral law.

The agreements are closed with the Chunta Aragonesista and Drago Canarias, the project led by the former deputy of the purple formation, Alberto Rodríguez.

The regional leader of Más Madrid, Mónica García, has advanced this Thursday that the agreement with Sumar “will be official throughout these hours”, although she has stressed that “it is not completely closed”, after the militancy voted majority in favor of supporting Sumar.

The Executive of Verdes Equo has already advanced its commitment to go to the elections together with Sumar and formations such as IU and En Comú Podem have already publicly indicated their support for Díaz’s project, with a view to forming a broad front for this electoral event.

This Thursday the Batzarre formation, which has held a consultation among its militancy in recent days, has approved “with a large majority” to attend the Sumar Movement. Batzarre in the recent regional elections was part of the Contigo Navarra-Zurekin Nafarroa candidacy.

And the eco-nationalists of AraMÉS from the Balearic Islands have reached a pre-agreement with Sumar this Thursday to compete in a coalition, a pre-agreement that will be ratified today by the assemblies of the parties that are part of AraMÉS: MÉS per Mallorca, Més per Menorca and Ara Eivissa, these formations have been reported in a statement.

Finally, the executive of Adelante Andalucía, the formation of Teresa Rodríguez, has finally chosen not to converge with Sumar to go together to the elections of 23-J.
