The skeletal remains found this Tuesday in a well in Manzanares (Ciudad Real) correspond to the Basque businessman Jesús María González Borrajo, who has disappeared since June 2019. This has been confirmed by the Government sub-delegate in Ciudad Real, María de los Ángeles Herreros. The investigation suggests that this death is related to the murder of businessman Juan Miguel Isla, whose body was found in another well in March. The perpetrators of both crimes would be the same people.

The inspection of the well in which González Borrajo has been found, in fact, was motivated by the discovery of the body of Isla, a 58-year-old man who disappeared on July 21, 2022. The Police arrested two people allegedly involved three months ago in the crime, both residents of the area, Antonio Caba and Gaspar Rivera.

These arrests reactivated the case of the 54-year-old Basque businessman González Borrajo, after almost four years of disappearance, especially after Rivera’s confessions. One of the consequences of the investigation was that it was decided to re-inspect the wells in the area, by agents of the Central Operating Unit (UCO) and the Ciudad Real Command, under the direction of the Investigating Court number 2 of apple orchards

The agents began the search first thing in the morning last Wednesday, and this Tuesday they found the skeletal remains of the businessman González Borrajo. They were in a 40-meter-deep and very narrow well, so a great technical deployment has been necessary.

González Borrajo was last seen in said municipality on June 19, 2019, after allegedly having carried out a commercial transaction for the sale of two luxury cars.

Antonio Caba would have mediated in that sale. In March he was arrested and jailed, accused of having killed Juan Miguel Isla last summer, presumably with the intention of keeping 50,000 euros from the sale of a farm. Along with him, Gaspar Rivera was arrested. These arrests have been the key piece that has made it possible to reactivate the case of the Basque businessman.

The hypothesis of the investigation is that the two detainees killed, in June 2019, González Borrajo, who had traveled to Manzanares to sell the aforementioned vehicles, and later, in July 2022, Juan Miguel Isla.

The investigation into the disappearance of the businessman from Vitoria, which came to be archived, had already crossed paths with Caba. In fact, his family suspected this man, after learning that they had had deals on an economic level. However, there was not even a corpse. González Borrajo was missing, there was no record that he had died.
