Civil Protection has activated the alert of the INUNCAT plan due to the forecast of heavy rains this afternoon and night in many Catalan regions, especially in the center of Catalonia and Girona.

The Catalan meteorological service Meteocat has reported this Saturday that in the next few hours rains can be registered that accumulate more than twenty liters per square meter in thirty minutes, and that occasionally they can be accompanied by storms or even violent weather, with accumulations of more fifty liters per square meter.

Civil Protection has reported in a statement that, as a result of this forecast, it has activated the alert for the risk of flooding while asking citizens to exercise extreme caution when traveling and activities abroad.

The forecasts indicate that tomorrow, Sunday, the rainfall may be intense again from midday, especially in Berguedà, Ripollès, Osona and La Garrotxa.

Civil Protection reminds citizens that they should not park their vehicles in streams or underground floodable points, not to cross rivers or streams if they come down with water, especially in areas where heavy rainfall is expected.
