On Saturday June 3 we celebrate World Bicycle Day. A day designed to make this sustainable and healthy vehicle visible, which allows us to make active trips without negative effects on the environment.

A truly spectacular and versatile mode of transport. Appropriate to move around towns and cities, to play sports or to travel. Able to advance on paved roads, dirt tracks or narrow paths. A machine that has evolved over time and is increasingly taking center stage in our society.

Within the framework of World Bicycle Day, Bici Lab Andorra offered different activities throughout the weekend. Some of them cultural, others sports-themed. But all with a common epicenter, the bicycle.

The most massive, with approximately 400 people, was the popular pedaling. An activity that brought together young and old, even entire families, riding a bike through the streets closed to traffic.

Right after, the participants were able to enjoy the theater show “Gregarios”, a show by the Soon Circus company that deals with the values of sport through humor and acrobatics.

Later, 3 small sessions were given to talk about the fit between bicycles and society, and how their connection is intuited in the future. One of the presentations was given by Bicycles without Borders, an association that has found in the bike a tool for social inclusion in rural areas of Senegal.

Another of the talks revolved around BikeLogic, a cooperative that works to promote bicycle logistics services through cargobikes, a booming system throughout the center and north of the European continent.

Lastly, Cicland, the Andorran shared bicycle network that continues to grow, took center stage. A successful system that is increasingly present in more cities on the Peninsula and that constantly records usage records.

In addition to the appointments presented, Bici Lab Andorra also scheduled 2 concerts and several guided visits to the Andorra Bicycle Museum. In these sessions, among other details, you can discover the history of the bicycle, with some of the most iconic examples of its evolution.

In total, some 800 people came together to enjoy the bike. From Bici Lab Andorra they value the conferences and the assistance in a very positive way, and they attribute it to the great penetration that the bicycle is achieving in today’s society.
