Isabel DÃaz Ayuso has once again demanded that the University Access Assessment test be “the same for all of Spain”. The president of the Community of Madrid, who already requested equalization in her first legislature, regrets that her request “continues not to be heard” but, pending a possible change of government that allows there to be a single Selectivity for all of Spain, has guaranteed that it will continue to maintain an “open door” policy of the University to “attract students from all over the world”.
Ayuso has referred on numerous occasions to the unification of criteria, alleging that “what does not make sense is that in Spain we have 17 EBAU because I believe that we should walk as a single country and that all students have the same opportunities and the same basic knowledge “.
The last entrance exam to the University has not been without controversy in Madrid after the Minister of Education, Pilar AlegrÃa, accused Ayuso of “politicizing” it after the inclusion of a photo of José MarÃa Aznar on the balcony of Génova, celebrating his victory in the 1996 elections to illustrate a History question for Madrid students.
“When I saw this question and this image, I said: ‘It’s curious, isn’t it? That the Popular Party, which is always accusing us of indoctrination, uses the first opportunity to politicize something as serious as the Selectivity of our young people. ..”, denounced AlegrÃa in an interview on Cadena SER.
An attack to which Ayuso responded by pointing out that “the most serious thing is listening to government ministers misbehaving without knowing who makes up the commission that decides the content of the tests. Starting with the Minister of Education.”
Ayuso has also claimed that Madrid has the largest university offer in the country, and that more than 300,000 students choose one of its public and private universities every year. “Half of them come from other countries attracted by the quality and variety of our university offer”, he highlighted during his speech at the inauguration of the new rector of the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), Ãngel Arias .
The regional president has prided herself on having “the necessary human and technological capital for the Community to take off as a knowledge superpower.”
