Former soccer player and manager Fernando Sanz has announced that his family will take legal action against journalist José María García for spreading slander against his father, Lorenzo, former president of Real Madrid.
The popular 79-year-old journalist had accused Lorenzo Sanz during an interview on the Cope network of having sold a Castilla game at the Santiago Bernabéu. “Those who brought and took the money were his children,” García went on to say.
These statements have provoked the immediate reaction of the Sanz family, which through Fernando’s Twitter account has announced the lawsuit against the veteran journalist to defend the “honor” of his father.
“Advised by our lawyers, we announce the initiation of legal actions to restore the truth, our honor and that of our deceased father and that of the Club he so proudly presided over,” the letter concludes.
It should be remembered that all this controversy is part of the premiere of Supergarcía, a Movistar series that reviews the career of José María García on the Spanish airwaves, which has brought him back to the forefront of current media.
