The PP does not need Vox to carry out its initiatives in this new legislature, the two rights continue to show an unequivocal harmony in the Madrid Assembly. Thus, the spokesperson for the ultranationalist formation, Rocío Monasterio, has advanced this Wednesday that she will support the investiture of the acting president of the Community, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, although she does not need your votes as she has the absolute majority of the regional Chamber.

Monasterio has advanced it, in statements to journalists, after meeting with the president of the Assembly, Enrique Ossorio, in the framework of the round of contacts to find a candidate for the investiture and propose a date. Monasterio considers that it would be “inconsistent” not to give him his support when they have done so on other occasions, although the truth is that his support has been confirmed 24 hours after the PP facilitated Vox on Tuesday to have representation at the Assembly Table.

“If Mrs. Ayuso has to choose between giving it to Vox or giving it to the left, in her position I would also have given it to Vox. We are very grateful”, declared Monasterio, who has reiterated that they will continue the line they have been following for in recent years and they will collaborate even if the PP does not need your votes for things to “improve”.

“Also from the opposition work is done to improve the lives of the people of Madrid,” he defended, while pointing out that in addition to exercising “control over the government” they can also be “proactive.” He believes that “the future of the people of Madrid” depends on the successes of the Government.

Ayuso set himself the goal of an absolute majority at the beginning of the campaign. And he did it. The 70 seats obtained on 28-M allow her to free herself from the uncomfortable constant negotiation with Vox, as happened in the last legislature, and which, in fact, forced the regional president to extend the 2022 budget when negotiations broke down in mid-2022. December.

In just four years, Ayuso has managed to widen the PP electorate in the Community. He first did it towards the center, when in the 2019 elections he managed to annul Ciudadanos to the point of leaving the orange party without parliamentary representation in the regional Chamber.

And in 2023 it has done so to the right. Vox continues to have its own group, but the cultural battle waged by the PP has gradually reduced the argument of the ultranationalists who, in the end, have ended up subjugated by supporting Ayuso in his investiture with hardly any counterparts.

With its influence in the regional Chamber annulled, Monasterio has set as a “priority” the formation of governments in the town halls of the region that are constituted this Saturday, June 17.

“This is the priority because you have to form a government in the town halls, where you have to manage. We are working on it but, of course, there will be people from Madrid and people we recommend for other lists, as happens in all parties,” he stated after being asked if she herself, or any of her deputies, will join her party lists at the national level.

There are several municipalities in Madrid where the ‘popular’ are the list with the most votes and the left does not reach an absolute majority, so they can access the Mayor’s Office without the votes of Vox, which they will nevertheless need to reach majorities throughout the term.

It will be the case, predictably, of Manuel Bautista in Móstoles; Rocío Alcántara in Alcobendas; David Conde in Valdemoro; Mariola Vargas in Collado Villaba; María José Martínez de la Fuente in Aranjuez; and Carlos Blázquez in Colmenar Viejo.

Also from Lucía Fernández in San Sebastián de los Reyes and from Alberto Escribano in Arganda del Rey, although the latter candidate has proposed to Vox to enter his Government even without needing it.

Where Vox is really decisive is in Alcalá de Henares. There the PSOE won, but the PP and Vox can add an absolute majority if they reach an agreement, so that Judith Piquet (PP) would unseat Javier Rodríguez Palacios (PSOE).
