Sevilla and Ramón Rodríguez ‘Monchi’ have reached an agreement this Thursday for the termination of the indefinite contract that united them, for which the Cádiz-born coach will pay just over three million euros before signing for English Aston Villa.
The Sevilla club, which had known Monchi’s intention to end his second spell as sports director of the club for ten days, a relationship resumed in 2019 after two seasons at AS Roma, will make the agreement official in the next few hours.
The talks to resolve Monchi’s contract have been laborious, since his claim was for Sevilla to renounce the stipulated compensation if he left to sign for another club, as is the case, without respecting the two sabbatical years that entailed a free termination .
Finally, the aforementioned sources have assured EFE that Aston Villa will be responsible for the 2.5 million provided for in the termination clause, while Monchi himself will pay an additional 600,000 euros for having failed to comply with the notice periods.
The second stage of the Cádiz-born coach in the sports management of Sevilla has been fruitful, since the Seville club has achieved four qualifications for the Champions League in as many seasons and has added two new Europa League titles to its record.
