The socialist Lourdes Borrell, the most voted candidate in the municipal elections of May 28, will regain the mayorship of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, a position she already held between 2010 and 2011. She will return thanks to an agreement with Tots Som Sant Feliu , the local Junts brand that groups this formation with other sensibilities and is led by Jaume Manyoses, and Veïns per Sant Feliu, a local candidacy led by veteran neighborhood activist Silvestre Gilaberte, who was a municipal technician and councilor of the old ICV between 1991 and 1993.

A press conference has been called today to present the tripartite agreement, which means a change of government in the capital of Baix Llobregat, governed for the past four years by Sant Feliu en Comú Podem and ERC, who left distribute the mayorship. Both groups lost councilors on 28- M. Historically, and also with the exceptions of the socialist Juan Antonio Vázquez and the most recent one of the republican Oriol Bossa, Sant Feliu de Llobregat had mayors from the PSUC and ICV. In fact, it has been one of the strongholds of this space in the region.

Borrell is happy to be mayor again. “What has been expressed at the polls is that the public has not voted for the government’s parties”, she argues, explaining the reasons that lead her not to agree with other left-wing formations. In statements to La Vanguardia, the socialist explains that they have opted for a pact with “municipalist forces”.

“There is a lack of cleaning and the collection of bulky items is a disaster”, he says about the changes he intends to promote on public roads. The latter will be one of his areas of action, but he also explains that he wants to promote affordable housing in the form of rent and sale, and endowments for the elderly and social emergencies. In addition, among other topics, he aspires to advance climate emergency and equality policies.

The big topic of Sant Feliu de Llobregat this term will be the monitoring of the undergrounding of the train tracks, which are now progressing at the expected pace after being claimed for decades. The urban planning of the city will live a before and an after.
