The extreme right speaks directly to our children, especially boys, through the mouths of YouTubers and influencers who, between jokes and absurd challenges, distill misogynistic, homophobic, racist and anti-European ideology. Talk to our grandparents with simple and easy WhatsApp and Facebook messages, short videos and memes to fear squatters and thieves who are always dark-skinned, like rapists and murderers.
The extreme right, which sometimes dresses up as the center right, depersonalizes the adversary through radio, talk shows, podcasts and alleged news reports that end up labeling a prime minister a psychopath, turning a political adversary into an enemy public
The extreme right does not care about the scandals for appointing a fascist bullfighter vice-president of the Valencian Generalitat and, to add insult to injury, responsible for Culture. Their media and communication war is elsewhere. To break the bonds between society to turn those who think differently into an enemy to be put down by any means. To divide society into good and bad, to lie and to manipulate the most atavistic fears, to become the leader who will shelter the horrified citizens under his shield.
Ciutadans, a very expensive party that was raised and fattened up by part of the Spanish establishment to put a stop to Podemos (and, by the way, to independence), would no longer be necessary today. With the same money and a strategic campaign on social networks, filled with lies and exaggerations, the same effect would be achieved. Like-minded judges and police would probably still be needed, such as those who have opened dozens of cases and investigations against Podemos without any of them reaching trial or, as in the case of the Valencian Mónica Oltra, delaying the publication that exonerated her of serious accusations. But only for them to throw the first snowball that then all the speakers keep getting fatter, until no one remembers when it started spinning.
The extreme right does not aspire to represent the citizens and have power. His agenda is to change society to fit his ideal mold, even if it’s with hammer blows.
