The Euskaltel-Euskadi has suffered the theft of a vehicle with all its bicycles in the Tour of Slovenia, a van and 14 bikes, and has been forced to abandon the Balkan race by not being able to start in the fifth and final stage.

As reported by the Basque team, “the theft took place during the night from Saturday to Sunday at the team hotel and the thieves stole a van with all the material inside.”

In that material they were “including the 14 bicycles of the seven runners present in the race, Xabier Mikel Azparren, Carlos Canal, Unai Iribar, Xabier Isasa, Txomin Juaristi, Andoni López de Abetxuko and Gotzon Martín”.

The management of Euskaltel Euskadi has “filed the corresponding complaint with the authorities” in Slovenia and “now trusts in the collaboration of citizens to find all the material.”

Waiting to recover what has been stolen, the orange team regrets that, “unfortunately”, its seven cyclists “have had to put an end to their participation in the test.”
