Sergio Rico’s accident on May 28 shocked Spanish society. The footballer was enjoying the pilgrimage in El Rocío, Huelva, when he suffered a fall from a horse. The health authorities acted quickly and decided to transfer him by helicopter to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital, since his condition was critical.
The athlete had suffered a head injury that had caused him different injuries, so once he arrived at the health center he was sedated and induced into a coma to try to stop the damage.
Since then, the family, friends and followers of the PSG player have been without a life. Her wife, Alba Silva, has visited the soccer player every day and has informed the press of each and every one of the advances on the state of health of her husband. Although he has been unable to maintain his composure at all times due to the nightmare he is experiencing, in general Silva has shown great strength and a positive attitude in the face of such misfortune.
A little over a week ago, the doctors at the Sevillian hospital decided to reduce the dose of sedation to see how the footballer reacted. Rico responded favorably and was conscious, but shortly after, the situation became complicated again and the doctors decided to put the Sevillian back to sleep to better control his health.
This Monday, Silva has attended the press with the sympathy that characterizes her. The young woman has expressed that they are a little more hopeful with the recovery of the soccer player: “Taking little steps forward and the truth is that we already see the light a little more.”
He also wanted to take advantage of the presence of the media to send a message of thanks: ”Thanks to the hospital and health personnel who are behaving incredible not only with Sergio but with all the patients and, truly, thanks to them and thanks to God, to everyone who has sent us a lot of strength, let’s go forward and I’m much more encouraged”.
The influencer has made it clear to the press that Rico is no longer sedated and that he has regained consciousness, although he did not want to go into details: “Yes, little by little it is going and I knew from the beginning that it was going to move forward because He’s a champion.”
When the Europa Press reporter asked her if the player already recognizes her relatives or if she can express herself, she responded briefly but sincerely: “Little by little, you have to be very patient.”
