The Cap de Creus Natural Park has promoted snorkeling itineraries in three coves of this natural space, in which fishing will be prohibited when the new Master Plan for Uses and Management (PRUG) of the park’s marine area comes into force.

The objective of the regulation is to protect and conserve the biodiversity of protected marine spaces in which all kinds of flora and fauna abound such as sea bream, octopus, golden sponge, sea tomato, spider fish, sardinian or hermit crab, among others.

The starting points of each of these itineraries are Cala Tamariua (Port de la Selva), Portlligat (Cadaqués) and Cala Murtra, in Roses. The itineraries range between 250 and 800 meters in length.

The itinerary that starts from Tamariua cove has a distance of between 250 and 500 meters and allows you to discover posidonia, octopus, sea urchins and sponges, hermit crabs, mullet and salpa banks.

The Portlligat (Cadaqués) itinerary is located on a wide beach that has been formed with the contribution of sediments and pebbles. Among other elements, divers will be able to observe posidonia meadows, where the red star lives. The itinerary is between 400 and 800 meters long.

Finally, the itinerary that is located in Cala Murtra (Roses) is between 300 and 600 meters long and allows you to observe species of more sandy bottoms such as spider fish, rock salmon, sea cucumber as well as schools of salpas and black palometas .

The Cap de Creus Natural Park has published a booklet with information on these itineraries and tips for snorkelling, such as always being accompanied, assessing the state of the sea beforehand and respecting the fauna and flora.
