María Teresa Campos turned 82 this past Sunday, June 18. A celebration marked by the delicate state of health that she has been presenting for some time, and of which hardly any new details are known at the express wish of the television station, beyond the fact that she has serious cognitive problems.
Her daughter Terelu was in charge of detailing how this important day was going to be, advancing that “nothing special” would be done and that they would even try not to tell her that it was her birthday to avoid added stress to the presenter. This Monday, the eldest daughter of María Teresa has recounted in Sálvame the entire course of her birthday.
After the broadcast of a piece dedicated to the veteran presenter, already retired from television, Terelu Campos thanked the program for making a “so beautiful and emotional” video for her. “We spent a quiet day, which I think is a good and wonderful thing,” she began to recount before the cameras.
“(We were) with the family, without fuss, because we thought that, in addition, it was the best for her,” continued Terelu, who has confirmed that María Teresa was finally informed of the anniversary, that same day. “We considered when to tell her that it was her birthday, because if we said it a few days before, she would still get nervous,” she explained, to later ensure that they had told her “at lunch.”
Terelu Campos has also confirmed the presence of Gustavo Guillermo, driver and close friend of María Teresa, on the presenter’s birthday. “She was not at the meal, but she was with her and with me yesterday, because it was Gustavo who brought her,” he confessed, and then interrupted her intervention because it was something that “belongs to her privacy.”
The Sálvame communicator has insisted that she saw her mother “calm and well” during the day of celebration. “He was nice, he was good and he liked it,” she concluded with her story.
