The judge of the National Court José Luis Calama has prosecuted the 74-year-old man arrested in Burgos for the crimes of terrorism and the manufacture and use of explosive devices for terrorist purposes for sending six letters with explosive devices, in November of last year, to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, to the facilities of the Instalaza company in Zaragoza, to the United States and Ukrainian Embassies in Madrid and to the satellite center of the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base.

In his order, the magistrate attributes the crime of terrorism to Pompeyo González despite the fact that there are no indications that he belongs to or collaborates with an organized terrorist gang or group, in addition to manufacturing and using explosive, flammable or incendiary devices for terrorist purposes. .

Both crimes are attributed to the defendant in its aggravated modality, taking into account that the shipments were expressly addressed to the President of the Government and the Minister of Defense with his name and first surname.

For the judge, the actions imputed to him, the context in which it occurs (the war in Ukraine), the feasibility of the devices exploding (as happened in the case of the Embassy of Ukraine) and the recipients of his actions, “They show that the purpose of disturbing public peace is present in the mind of said defendant, transmitting the message that we are facing actions carried out by people linked to Russia as well as repression of the interests of Spain and the United States as a consequence of their support for Ukraine in the face of Russian occupation”. His intention was to force the public authorities of our country to refrain from supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

In his resolution, the magistrate details all the evidence that places the person being investigated as the author of the shipment of the explosives, including the entry and search of his house, where several cylindrical rods were found that may correspond to the same type of cylinders that were housed in its interior the incendiary piston of homemade explosive devices; different screws together with springs similar to the “firing pin” that was used in the incendiary devices; and drills with precision bits similar to those used for its production.

Another of the tests, indicates the order, indicates that in the different DNA traces found in the artifacts, the same genetic profile corresponding to a male appears. Once a surveillance device was established on Pompeyo González, a bag of waste was collected that he deposited in a container near his home and which was transferred to the offices of the General Police Station of Scientific Police, where an analysis of the DNA samples was carried out. found inside. “The DNA report from the General Police Station of the Scientific Police (…) confirms that the DNA extracted from the vestiges abandoned by Pompeyo González Pascual coincides with the genetic profile collected on the stamps and in the different internal parts of the explosive devices,” he says.

In addition, the judge specifies, the cardboard envelopes addressed to the Ministry of the Presidency, the US Embassy, ??and Torrejón, which did not explode, were found partially canceled by the Valladolid Automated Treatment Center (CTA). The images captured by the security cameras of this center revealed that the following artifacts had been processed there.

Once the traceability of these envelopes has been carried out in the reverse direction to the delivery trucks, the car continues, the routes followed have allowed us to verify that the previous shipments could have left different external mailboxes in the town of Burgos. In addition, the analysis of the stamped stamps has determined that the only two outlets where they could be purchased were two tobacconists located on the streets of San Pablo and Sombrerería in said city.

Another indication points out that the characteristics of the envelopes used for shipments lead to a website that markets its sale online. From the information requested from this marketing company on all those individuals and legal entities that purchased this type of envelope, it appears that Pompeyo González, residing in the town of Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), on November 5 bought 25 envelopes of these characteristics, details.

The investigation also led to requesting information from Amazon about the purchases made by Pompeyo González. These acquisitions have revealed, says Calama, that, between the months of June and July, he acquired a kilo of pure potassium nitrate, cable with a wick, switches and copper filaments, and incandescent light bulbs.
