This Friday the history of television in Spain will close a long chapter that has lasted fourteen years. ‘Sálvame’, the star program on Telecinco for nearly a decade and a half, will say goodbye with a special of about four hours in which all the collaborators in the history of the show will say goodbye on set. And it will be a big farewell, since the whole team is willing to leave only one thing: ashes.

As Semana magazine has advanced, the June 23 program will close the broadcast of ‘Save me’ in style, with a large bonfire where all the furniture will burn. It coincides that the date falls on the eve of San Juan, a traditional night of firecrackers, flares and large columns of fire. The team from the evening show will make the preparations in the studio parking lot, preparing a large flame there where they will burn all the furniture and decorations stored to date.

According to tradition, burning old furniture and artifacts in a bonfire serves to purify the old and start anew. That is the idea under this burning finale of ‘Save me’, in which not only the current team will participate. No names have been given at the moment, but rumors indicate that other collaborators and members of the program during the last fourteen years participate in the same way in burning furniture.

In addition to the bonfire, the program will also have a heartfelt note of memory. There is also a coincidence that this June 23 marks two years since the death of Mila Ximénez. The veteran contributor to the magazine lost her life at the age of 69, due to lung cancer. There are no precise confirmations of whether there will be a specific tribute or something similar, but it is expected that Mila will be present in some way during the broadcast.

Who still does not know if he will appear or not in the last program of ‘Sálvame’ is Jorge Javier Vázquez. The man who has presented the program throughout its entire existence is the great unknown before the closing of the show. After a medical leave that he announced in May, a few weeks ago he made his official retirement from television public on social networks. The driver claimed that he should follow the signals from his body and stop.

“The body and the mind send you signals and throughout my life I have been little to pay attention to them. Until today. I need to stop to take care of myself. To ask me what I want. If I’m clear. If I don’t know better I hope. At the moment, going back is the last thing on my mind, although it may be what I feel like the most tomorrow, ”the man from Badalona explained in his publication. Even so, it would not be ruled out that he appears in ‘Save me’ this Friday to close this stage.
