The Madrid City Council will carry out traffic cutoffs and restrictions on June 25, 28, 29 and 30 and July 1 and 2, 2023 on the occasion of the different events planned by Pride (MADO) 2023 in some places in the center of the city.
Vehicles of more than 3,500 kilograms of Maximum Authorized Mass (MMA) intended for the transport of goods will be prohibited from driving through the Centro district (with the exception of the Embajadores neighborhood) and the surroundings of the Plaza de España.
Between 4:00 p.m. on July 1 and 8:00 a.m. on July 2, on the occasion of the MADO demonstration, the prohibition extends to the neighborhoods of Recoletos, Castellana, Jerónimos, Pacífico, Adelfas, Almagro and Trafalgar , which is where the parade is expected to pass, which will be attended by more than two million people.
Trucks and other vehicles used in the central Pride demonstration are exempt from the restriction, after inspection and review; urban, interurban and tourist transport buses with municipal concession; cleaning service vehicles; and mobile audiovisual units.
However, given the exceptional nature and temporary limitation of the measure, vehicles weighing more than 3,500 kilograms of MMA (Maximum Authorized Mass) that are parked or circulating in the security perimeter during the hours of the restrictions will not be penalized.
Furthermore, between June 25 and July 2, merchandise loading and unloading operations outside of the ordinarily authorized hours will be allowed, on an exceptional basis.
On July 1, due to the central Pride demonstration, circulation will be restricted to all vehicles on the Gran Vía-Princesa street axis, between its junctions with Alcalá and Ventura Rodríguez streets, from 8 a.m. to 16 hours.
Vehicles for loading and unloading merchandise that operate in the area, residents and holders of parking spaces, buses, taxis, VTC, tourist buses, cleaning vehicles, mobile audiovisual units, cranes, funeral vehicles and vehicles for people with disabilities are exempt. reduced mobility.
On June 28, 29, 30 and July 1 and 2, all types of vehicles, including mopeds and bicycles, are prohibited from parking in different places in the city at certain times. On June 28, from 6:00 p.m., in Pedro Zerolo square and its surroundings (Infantas, Clavel, Costanilla de Capuchinos and San Bartolomé streets). From 5:00 p.m. on June 29 to 11:59 p.m. on July 2, within the perimeter of the Justicia (Chueca) neighborhood delimited by Hortaleza, Fernando VI, Bárbara de Braganza, Paseo de Recoletos, Alcalá and Gran Vía. From 5:00 p.m. on June 29 to 11:59 p.m. on July 2 within the perimeter of the Argüelles neighborhood delimited by Princesa streets (between Gran Vía and Ventura Rodríguez), Ventura Rodríguez, Ferraz and Plaza from Spain.
Vehicles that are within the security perimeters at the indicated times will be withdrawn, although they will not be penalized or charged for the towing service. Vehicles belonging to people with reduced mobility cards parked in the corresponding reserves will be exempt.
A massive Pride week is expected, after the years in which there were serious restrictions due to the pandemic, with which Madrid will become the European headquarters of the LGTBI movement.
