The famous Bar Pinotxo de la Boqueria will reopen its doors next September in another market, Sant Antoni. This was assured today to Betevé by Juanito Bayén’s nephew, Jordi Asín Bayén, who had already announced that he would look for another location after his uncle, Juanito Bayén, who died last April, transferred the business of La Boqueria to the managers of the Bar Central.
In full legal dispute over the inheritance of the Pinotxo, Asín managed last March for the new operator, the Restaurante Egipto SLU, to cease the use of the name Pinotxo Bar by order of the Mercantile Court number 9 of Barcelona.
That’s how it was, and the establishment of La Boqueria that used to host Pinotxo has been renamed the Mític Bar, although the legal battle for the name Pinotxo is still pending.
As he has assured Betevé, the new premises will be located on a corner between Tamarit and Comte d’Urgell streets and will be faithful to the philosophy of the old Pinotxo Bar, which was run by his uncle, Juanito Bayén, for 75 years. Work will begin shortly to fit out the new premises, which will also maintain the same menu that was offered in this establishment until last February.
Asín has also affirmed that he has chosen the Sant Antoni market for its authenticity and for being a space far from the center and tourists. “It will be a return to the origins,” he concluded.
