Four hundred dogs from ten countries will meet this Easter in the Zaragoza town of Gotor, which will host the sixth edition of the Gotor Dog Party, one of the “most important international” agility championships. Participants from Canada, the United Kingdom and other European countries are expected to attend.
The tournament will have an agility part and a sports obedience part, in which there will also be “very good national competitors.”
Regarding the first, the furry animals will have to pass different obstacles, such as a slalom, different ramps that they must go up and down, jumps or tunnels, in the shortest time possible, taking into account that there are penalties, such as knocking down elements of the circuit or avoiding a obstacle.
There will be three levels or degrees of participation. Thus, in grade 1 there will be many dogs, but in grade 3 there will be “the best competitors from Spain and Europe,” says the Spanish agility champion, Carmen Briceño. The winner will be the furry one who completes the course the fastest without any penalty.
“It will be very nice to see us fight among ourselves and it will be a competition that will mark the field of agility, it will be a very important title and it will have a lot of impact,” says Briceño.
In addition, on Thursday and Friday, there will be seminars and other activities, while the tests will begin on Saturday, March 30, in different categories: the Spanish Championship in beginners and large, medium and mini; and the Gotor Cup in large, medium and mini, depending on the size of the dog. On Sunday, March 31, the grand final will be held, for which the novice category is excepted.
The tests, organized and coordinated entirely by the Zarajump Agility Club of Zaragoza-Spain, will take place in an authorized area of ??fifty thousand square meters located next to the Dominican convent, where four central spaces called rings and other semi-fences located at the side will be enabled. side with separations.
