The boss of Aston Martin, Mike Krack, expressed his enthusiasm for Aston Martin’s chances before the remaining Grands Prix, since they hope to be able to further increase the performance of the AM23 in order to bring Fernando Alonso closer to victory number 33 and Red Bull of Max Verstappen.

The Canadian Grand Prix returned Aston Martin to the podium at the hands of Fernando Alonso. Which means that the innovations implemented in the car of the Silverstone team work. But according to Mike Krack, this was not a very favorable circuit for his car, as will be the following, Austria and England.

“Someone asked me before if this situation is frustrating, and I think it is not at all. It is a challenge. Because we have a car with a driver who wants to win and we are not far from achieving it. So it’s always very motivating and we have to fight hard to close the gap as much as we can for the next few races.”

“I think I shouldn’t make those statements about putting them (Red Bull) under pressure. Because they are world champions, they are a winning team. We are in our first year where we are a little bit better, so I think we have to keep our feet on the ground,” Mike Krack said.

“I think we’ve seen the latest updates and they seem to work. And there are some tracks coming up now where you have a lot of high-speed corners and I think we’ve gotten better in the high-speed corners, and in Canada there weren’t as many, just more braking. So actually, we’re looking forward to it. Because at those circuits I think we will see the true strength of Red Bull. And we’ll also have a better indication of how far we are,” said Mike Krack.

“I think whenever you put new parts on the car, you have to go through a relearn cycle. How does your car behave in different conditions, at different riding heights…? So I think we have a lot to learn and we also have to further develop the car in the next few races”, he commented on it.

“Canada is a specific circuit and I already said in Barcelona that you always have to wait a couple of races to really identify where you are. With the mix between upgrades and track features it’s really hard to get a clear picture. So I think the safest thing to say at the moment is that Red Bull is in front and the other three (major teams) are close. I think that’s all we can say for sure,” he added.

“Austria is a circuit that will be good for us, maybe better (than Montreal) for our car. The one in Canada was a strange track, if you will, maybe it has gone well historically for Ferrari here with short corners and long straights, so we hope in Austria to have more pace,” he argued.
