The holidays arrive and, once again, the eternal beach or mountain dilemma on the table -or the suitcase- of many families. The Puy du Fou park breaks a spear -and never better said- in favor of less conventional summer plans. Those who defy ‘business as usual’, even the laws of time and distance. Because Puy du Fou is a trip cubed: a trip back in time. Specifically, to our past.
Holidays are days of rest, but for those who are also the gateway to new sensations and experiences, their destiny awaits in the mountains of Toledo, less than an hour from Madrid. Recognized as one of the best parks in the world by the Tripadvisor travel platform, the Puy du Fou park has been armed with hundreds of fountains and refreshing points to delight the traveler who comes to it with the arrival of summer.
It is, in fact, the perfect getaway to travel far away without having to travel hours and hours. A stop to elevate the vacation, make a worthwhile stop on the way or give it an extra bit of excitement before arriving home or leaving. Around us, 30 hectares of nature to enjoy a different summer doing what nobody does: travel through the centuries.
Among the novelties that the park -the most awarded in the world- presents for the summer season, those with water as the protagonist stand out: Los Surtidores del Lazarillo (a fun circuit at the foot of the Alijares area full of jets of water), Los Lavaderos de Villanueva or the Pozo de Isidro. Three new scenes of refreshing action in which the visitor can immerse themselves in history and forget about the summer temperatures.
They are part of the meticulously recreated environment with which to transport the visitor to a past that cannot be found on postcards, but is forged with unique memories. For this, Puy du Fou has presented special prices from 25 euros. In the morning, the visitor will be able to enjoy all its daytime and immersive shows (El Último Cantar, Allende la Mar Océana, A Pluma y Espada, Cetrería de Reyes, El Misterio de Sorbaces or De Tal Palo…).
It is only the prelude, while the air is caught in El Arrabal, because another ‘show’ arrives. Enjoy the sunset accompanied by different groups from the region that liven up the evening with live music. Because if there is a protagonist who does not miss a day, and who has become the most admired of the park, it is the Toledo sunset in the middle of nature, which bursts into Puy du Fou every day and is a prelude to those precious summer nights in the that the jacket is not left over.
We must not forget that we are in the mountains of Toledo, although there is still more. When the afternoon disappears among its portentous silhouette, the nocturnal show begins that captivates 6,000 people every night through a journey that covers 1,500 years of history on a five-hectare stage. It is El Sueño de Toledo, recently named “best show in the world” and presented for the fifth consecutive year.
It has earned a special place in the park and in the memory of those who visit it. El Sueño de Toledo is the best plan to end an exciting day full of emotions after visiting the Puy du Fou park. A unique night show in the world in which history comes alive, crosses the city walls and crosses the depths of the river to relive first-hand the most important historical episodes that have shaped today’s society.
In total, 75 minutes that pass like a breath to visit Recaredo’s Reign or Las Navas de Tolosa, passing through the discovery of America or the arrival of the railway. On this gigantic canvas, in which things never stop happening, there are more than 200 actors, with spectacular special effects and a stage that, due to its immensity, leaves the spectators speechless.
For the hottest, Puy du Fou has rest areas, shades that extend from end to end thanks to its pergolas, awnings and nebulization points. It offers the traveler details from another world (or another century), such as being received with fresh water and dates upon arrival at the Caliphate palaces. In addition, the park has carried out more than 100,000 plantations and has the objective of adding another 25,000 plants for this season with 200 native species.
