The mayoress of Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelonès Nord) and president of the socialist municipal group, Núria Parlon, and the spokesperson for this group, Esteve Serrano, on the one hand; and the president of the municipal group of Ciutadans, Dimas Gragera, and the spokesman for his group, Salvador Tovar, have signed a governance agreement based on five axes this morning in the Government Chamber of the consistory. With the incorporation of the two orange councilors, the government team is expanded to 19 councilors.
In the last municipal elections, the PSC maintained the absolute majority that it already had, with 17 councilors, ERC obtained 4, while Ciudadanos, Partido Popular and VOX obtained two representatives each.
The mayoress Núria Parlon has declared about the agreement that “We have an absolute majority, but the citizens have voted plurality. With Ciutadans we are united by certain issues that are reflected in this agreement. It is not a government coalition, but a shared illusion, from the 8 years of experience of the Ciutadans group in the opposition and its constant knowledge of the heartbeat of the city and from the socialist project revalidated at the polls. Parlon has no doubt that “the project will improve with the contribution of the two Ciutadans councillors. We started this stage with enthusiasm, optimism and loyalty to improve Santa Coloma. And with the rest of the forces, that respect diversity, willing to reach agreements”
For his part, Dimas Gragera stated that “the polls legitimized Núria Parlon and in an exercise of leadership she assumes that her government can improve by incorporating people who think differently. There is a point that unites us: Santa Coloma, our streets, our neighborhoods”. Gragera added that “neither of the two forces needed to reach that pact, but I am sure that it will be good for the city. Give us the opportunity to manage and we will. Our votes come from our work in the neighborhoods these years, and we want to be useful to these people”.
Although the mayoress has not yet wanted to give details of the responsibilities of the two Ciudadanos councilors while waiting to close the folder, they will focus on the field of economic promotion and security.
