The CCOO, CSIT and UGT unions have sent a letter to the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, to request a meeting with the aim of including the recovery of the 35-hour working day on the agenda of the new legislature weekly average for public employees.

After the formation of the new Government team of the Community of Madrid, the three unions have addressed the president to address this demand, after promoting a campaign of joint mobilizations “For the recovery of the 35-hour weekly shift for public employees of the Community of Madrid”, which culminated on May 18 with a demonstration.

From CSIT Unión Profesional they remind the president that the return to the 35-hour day benefits the public service provided to the citizen, since, if the workers feel recognized with a working day that allows them to better reconcile their lives personal, work and family, will increase the productivity and quality of the public service provided to citizens.

The 35-hour work week promotes job creation and the rejuvenation of the workforce, benefits health, both physical and mental, favors measures to modernize administrations, such as digitization, the unions highlight, which invites the Administration to be “an example” for companies.

In addition, they show their willingness to negotiate the best way to apply this measure “as soon as possible” and point out that “the Administration of the Community of Madrid is the only one that has refused, to date, to negotiate the return to the working day of 35 hours per week for its public employees, in general, despite the fact that the framework agreement for a 21st century Administration so establishes it and despite the fact that in 2012 it was the first to modify the working day, together with other cuts imposed on the public sector”.

Within the framework of the new political cycle, CSIT Unión Profesional returns to demand that the president seek a way to find a rapprochement, with the aim of recovering the 35-hour day in the regional Administration.
