In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can contemplate the supercandilation at sunset at La Costilla beach in Rota.
This beach is adjacent to the historic center of Rota, so it is fully urban. As can be seen, we see an intense color palette at sunset, dominated by orange and reddish tones.
Located on the shores of the Bay of Cádiz on the Atlantic Ocean coast, halfway between Portugal and Gibraltar, Rota is an eminently tourist city, a holiday destination for travelers from all over Europe.
La Costilla beach is one of the most popular and famous in this coastal town. It is one and a half kilometers long. It is very popular with bathers in summer and offers splendid sunsets.
The candilazo is a meteorological phenomenon in which the clouds in the sky show a wide palette of colors that goes from pink to the most intense orange.
As part of the phenomenon of scattering of sunlight, in the morning and afternoon hours, when the sun is closest to the horizon, the light that reaches Earth is soft tones between red and orange.
In a certain way, when this light passes through the clouds, it illuminates them and it could be said that it colors them with those hues.
The candilazo is also known as arrebol, which is the red color that is seen in the clouds illuminated by the sun’s rays, especially at dawn and at sunset.
