Shakira is in a great professional moment. The Colombian artist is in New York working very hard to promote her new album, Las Mujeres No Ya Lloran, which she released last Friday, March 22.
A couple of days ago, Gerard Piqué’s ex-wife went on The Tonight Show and confessed to Jimmy Fallon that this album has been a before and after in her life, as well as that she has channeled her sadness, her anger and her frustration through of the songs that make it up.
The one from Barranquilla did not hesitate to talk about how she faced her career when she was married and to recognize that now she can explore her creativity: ”It has been very difficult to put everything I felt into an album and give it shape, because I didn’t have time, it was what having a husband had to do. Now I don’t have it anymore. The husband dragged me, he wouldn’t let me. Now I am free, now I can really work (…) I needed to feel better, I was rebuilding myself and the only way I could be whole again was through music, because it is my glue (…). This album has been my catharsis.”
In this interview, Mebarak wanted to highlight the fundamental role of her followers in her emotional process, since she has felt very accompanied at all times: ”I have the best fans in the world. They have been with me through good and bad times. “They have always been with me supporting me.”
After participating in the famous United States television slot, Shakira announced yesterday by surprise on her Instagram account that she would give a free concert in Times Square in a matter of hours.
As expected, the singer’s call had a great impact and more than 40,000 people attended the event. The artist had giant screens, great lighting and a powerful group of dancers that helped her give a memorable show.
The Colombian began the concert singing Hips Don’t Lie, which caused applause to erupt from those present in the square. “Hello New York! This is incredible, absolutely crazy! How incredible to be here in Times Square. It’s amazing to see you again, singing for you, nothing compares to this. Thank you so much for all the love you’ve given me this week during the launch of my album Las mujeres no ya Lllen,” said the performer during the first minutes of the performance.
Throughout her performance, Shakira sang most of the songs from her new album, so the propaganda purpose of the event held in New York City was quite clear. However, Carlos Vives’ friend also performed some of the most iconic songs of her career, which greatly pleased her fans.
Those attending the concert announced on social networks that they had witnessed a high-quality show and many of the users who followed the show through social networks praised the strength and energy of the Colombian artist, who is in a great musical moment.
