A busy afternoon in the Sant Llorenç del Munt massif, with a hail storm and, thanks to the torrential rains, new waterfalls descended from previously dry streams, as can be seen in the Photos of La Vanguardia Readers.
It seems that the summer storms want to make themselves felt after a spring in which the drought has been very protagonists. In fact, showers with occasional storms, locally strong, are still expected tomorrow in the Pyrenees and the eastern half of Catalonia, and cloudy intervals with some early morning rain, in the rest of the territory.
The thermometers will drop, the wind will blow moderately to strong from the northwest in the Empordà, from the west in Tarragona and Lleida and weak (variable) in the rest, with sea breezes on the coast, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
The rain is breathing new life into Sant Llorenç del Munt, whose main peaks are Montcau and La Mola, where the monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt is located, at an altitude of 1,104 metres.
The Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac is an extensive protected natural area. The landscape is of oak forest, white pine, oak and hazel and bare rock.
In addition, it is pierced by more than 300 caves and peaks. Neolithic and medieval archaeological remains abound among farmhouses, vineyard sheds, ice wells and fountains.
