The price of gas in the regulated tariff (TUR) is cheaper by 2.89% as of this Saturday, as reported by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

The price for TUR 1, which is mainly used by customers who use gas to supply hot water, falls by 2.32%. For households with TUR 2, for domestic customers who also have gas heating, it decreases by 2.79%. Lastly, the annual bill for consumers of the new TUR 3 rate (annual consumption between 15,000 kWh and 50,000 kWh) will drop by 3.01%.

As for the neighboring communities, which have been eligible for the TUR since October, there will be a drop of between 4 and 5.7% of its variable part.

The Last Resort Tariff for natural gas is updated by the Government on a quarterly basis if the price of the raw material varies by more than 2%. Any consumer connected to low-pressure natural gas networks whose annual consumption is less than 50,000 KWh can benefit from this rate.

Since October 2021, the increase in the price of gas is limited to 15%. Thanks to this measure, the impact on consumers of the rise in raw material has been considerably mitigated, although it did not have to be applied in this latest review.

Since the entry into force of the cap, the approximate average decrease for an average TUR 1 customer has been around 60 euros per year; for a TUR 2, 183 euros per year, and for a TUR 3, 463 euros per year, according to Executive figures.

The National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) has paid TUR marketers 630.8 million euros for the deficit generated until the end of April 2023, due to this 15% limitation on the cost increase of the raw material.
