The first big operation out of the summer is already here. And the vast majority of journeys will be carried out by road. There are many citizens who choose to take the car to reach their destination. In addition to checking the most basic elements to avoid unpleasant surprises along the way – nobody wants a puncture or breakdown to stop them on the road – it is necessary to fill the fuel tank.
Although fuel prices have fallen compared to the highs reached in 2022, choosing the right service station where you fill the tank can mean good savings. The National Association of Automatic Service Stations (Aesae) has ensured that refueling at its gas stations is cheaper than doing so at traditional ones.
According to his data, putting diesel in an automatic gas station during these days will be an average of 18 cents per liter cheaper than doing it in a traditional one. If we take into account that a tank has an average of 60 liters, this translates into a saving of 10.8 euros.
The aforementioned association has made its numbers based on data from the Geoportal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, which collects the retail prices of more than 11,000 gas stations in the country.
By autonomous communities, Cantabria is the one with the greatest difference with 26 cents per liter, followed by Navarra (22 cents), the Valencian Community (20 cents), Andalusia, Madrid and Asturias (19 cents), and La Rioja and Catalonia (18 cents). ).
The Communities with the least difference are the Balearic Islands with 13 cents, followed by Aragon, the Basque Country (14 cents), and Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha (15 cents).
As for gasoline, the price difference between conventional and automatic service stations is reduced; Specifically, he speaks of an average reduction of 14 cents per liter.
The communities with the greatest difference in this fuel are Cantabria with 21 cents, followed by Catalonia (20 cents), the Valencian Community (19 cents), and the Community of Madrid and Navarra (15 cents).

Automatic gas stations, also known as low cost, are cheaper because they have fewer costs. Their establishments are usually located on rented land, are smaller than conventional ones and do not have physical personnel deployed at each gas station. A single worker can remotely control 3 or 4 gas stations. In addition, when they go to the wholesale market, they buy the fuel from the company that sells it cheaper at that time.
