Late on Tuesday, Meteocat announced the entry of a mass of cold air that would lower the snow level below 1,000 meters. The good thing is that all snowfall will end up turning into water with the thaw. In La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos we can see how it dawned with snow in the Pyrenees.
In these images captured from Osona, Puigmal can be seen above all with a lot of snow, while in the foreground we can see elements such as the historic Serratosa farmhouse, Orís and the Milany Castle.
Milany Castle was a castle built on top of Milany, a mountain that dominates the valley that connects Vallfogona with the Plana de Vic. Its peak is 1,529 meters high.
It is the castle built at the highest altitude in Catalonia. Today the state is in ruins, although it is classified as a cultural asset of national interest.
The Serratosa farmhouse already appears in documents from the 14th century. It has considerable dimensions and sits on a rock base.
It has an L-shaped plan, with a covered gallery facing south, a large adobe barn with a large semicircular arch and a chapel dedicated to the Mare Déu del Roser, from 1877.
El Puigmal, in Alta Cerdanya, is the second highest mountain in the province of Girona, with 2914 meters, and is located on the border between Spain and France.
Located between the municipalities of Queralbs (Ripollès) and Err (Alta Cerdanya, Eastern Pyrenees), the Puigmal is the highest of the summits that make up the so-called Gran Olla that surrounds the Vall de Núria.
It is a wide and rounded top. And its ascent is easy if the weather conditions are not very adverse. At its summit there is a forged iron cross and a plaque with verses by Jacint Verdaguer.
The snow landscape prevails in the high mountains while spring continues its course in the fields. The full moon also appears to vindicate itself in this month of March, which is already facing its final stretch.
