There is one week left for Tamara Falcó and Íñigo Onieva to say ‘yes, I want’ in El Rincón, the property that the Marquesa de Griñón inherited from her father, Carlos Falcó. The link promises to be the wedding of the year. One of the certainties was that Tamara would wear a family heirloom, owned by the Falcó family, at her wedding. The marquise expected to wear a diamond tiara that she had already worn by her sister-in-law, Amparo Corsini, at her wedding to Tamara’s brother, Manuel Falcó. However, now this is unknown, since it is unknown if this jewel is among the valuables that were stolen last Thursday on the A-6 in the direction of La Coruña.
As Nacho Abad has recounted in El Debate, the theft of the jewels that the couple would wear at their wedding, scheduled for Saturday, June 8, occurred on the A-6 motorway near Las Rozas, when the jewelers, who They were traveling in a luxury car to Valladolid, they were surprised by a vehicle that emulated a police car. The jewelers were forced to stop on a service road after the car came up on them and blocked their way.
At gunpoint, the thieves seized the briefcase containing the jewellery, an impressive collection of antique-style necklaces, earrings, bracelets and bangles valued at more than two million euros. With the loot secured, the robbers sped away, leaving the jewelers in shock on the service road. It is unknown if among the stolen jewels is the family tiara that Tamara had to wear at her wedding with the businessman.
As we said, it is a family heirloom that has not been seen in public since July 1999, when the Marquise’s brother said ‘yes, I want’. It is Tamara’s most valuable jewel for her connection with Íñigo. In fact, wearing this object will be the way to remember her father, Carlos Falcó, on his big day, since the tiara was his property. She also demonstrates the close relationship she maintains with her sister-in-law and her brother, who will be her godfather for her marriage.
The tiara is a one-piece art-deco jewel, with a triangular front and made exclusively of diamonds of various sizes. It is not the only jewel that Tamara is expected to wear. According to Hello!, Isabel Preysler’s daughter will also wear Tous Atelier earrings that the Catalan firm has created especially for her big day. She will also wear the engagement ring, open minimalist style, in white gold and three knob-shaped diamonds. This is the Serti Sur Vide piece from the Italian high jewelry firm Repossi. It is unknown if these jewels are also among those stolen.
The truth is that this tiara was chosen among several options. Tamara ruled out the one that her sister Xandra and the wife of her cousin Álvaro’s, Isabelle Junot, had already worn at their respective weddings. It is a late 19th century diamond and pearl tiara that belonged to Tamara’s great-grandparents and comes from Paris. This diadem is much more ostentatious and difficult to wear due to her weight, something that led her to lean towards the other one. We will have to wait to find out more details about whether this important piece has been stolen or not.
