Emergency services and the Baltimore (Maryland) police have reported a mass shooting in the south of the city early this Sunday morning.
The Baltimore Police Department confirmed that multiple gunshots were fired near 800 Gretna Avenue. Ten injured were taken to the hospital by the health workers, while another 20 were able to do so by their own means.
The cimissary Richard Worley has only confirmed two deaths and 28 wounded, three of them in a critical situation.
Law enforcement have cordoned off the Brooklyn Homes area where numerous ambulances and medical teams are working.
Among the possible causes of the shooting, a neighborhood fight is being considered. Hundreds of people were gathered at the scene of the incident celebrating an event called “Brooklyn Day,” a witness told Fox 45 television, adding that they had heard between 20 and 30 shots.
CNN quoted Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley as saying there was no information yet on the suspects or motive, but investigators were “working an extensive crime scene.”
The police have announced that they will give more details about what happened in the next few hours.
