That Rupit is one of the best tourist towns in the world is usually said by those who visit it, but it has also been formally recognized by the World Tourism Organization.

The UNWTO ruled so based on several criteria, which include the beauty of the town, its heritage, its history, care for the environment or the natural resources it has. In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see some images that attest to this.

Following all these factors, the UNWTO chose Rupit, in the Osona region, as one of the best in the world, highlighting its mountainous landscape, its medieval-style streets, the church of Sant Miquel, the Castle, the Hanging Bridge and the Can Badaire.

In this way, Rupit was one of the 32 municipalities recognized by the World Tourism Organization as the best tourist towns in the world.

The award, delivered last February, recognizes rural destinations that incorporate tourism as an engine for development and new employment and income opportunities, while preserving and promoting community values ??and products.
