The electric bicycle sector is constantly growing and a good number of car and motorcycle brands are jumping on the bandwagon. One of the most recent developments is starring the iconic high-performance motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, which, like others, is diversifying its product line.
The brand recently launched its first premium mountain bike, the MiG-S, and now it has just introduced a new model to the range: Ducati’s first electric mountain bike with a carbon frame, the Powerstage RR. This is an exclusive limited edition of an extremely efficient bike, of which the manufacturer will only produce 230 numbered units.
This bike has been designed to challenge the most difficult off-road conditions, especially when it comes to steep climbs, and for this it is inspired by the bikes of the brand’s official MotoGP team. And it is that the mission of the Powerstage RR is none other than to help cyclists achieve maximum performance and stability on the most demanding routes.
To do this, Ducati engineers have built an impressive carbon fiber frame with several interlocking layers of fibers to withstand maximum stress. And it is that the team of the Italian brand has identified point by point, through exhaustive technical analysis, those areas that suffer the most pressure in order to reinforce them accordingly, including the steering area and the rear part.
The electric bike has an excellent geometry that allows you to face ascents and descents with maximum comfort. Notable components rounding out the kit include a Renthal carbon handlebar and a Fizik saddle with integrated tool holder.
To withstand harsh off-road conditions, the Powerstage RR is equipped with an Öhlins RXF38 m.2 air fork (180mm travel) at the front and an Öhlins m.2 coil shock with TTX technology (170mm travel) at the rear. the rear, both fully adjustable.
The new Shimano EP801 electric motor, with a weight of 2.7 kg, gives you the power you need to tackle any route. It has 250 W of power and generates 85 Nm of torque. A Shimano 630 Wh removable battery is integrated into the down tube, lowering the center of gravity and improving balance.
Another essential component is the SRAM GX AXS 12-speed wireless electronic rear derailleur, which provides instant and precise gear changes. The Braking First brakes cannot be ignored either, which, according to Ducati, are among the most powerful on the market. The Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels, 29 inches at the front and 17.5 inches at the rear, with carbon rims of variable thickness to lighten their weight, deserve special mention.
The electric bike has several preconfigured electrical assistance profiles according to the needs of the cyclist, and is available in three sizes: medium, large and extra large. The Powerstage RR can now be ordered through the Ducati dealer network starting at €11,990. We recommend viewing the following video to delight yourself with its precision.
