As we all know, before starting the car it is mandatory to wear a seat belt. It was in the year 1975 when it was imposed as a mandatory rule in the front seats of the vehicle and, in the year 1992, it was decided that anyone who was in the rear seats of the car also had to wear a seat belt. Currently, not wearing a seatbelt is a serious offense that can be fined up to €200 in addition to the loss of driving license points. The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) goes further and recommends fastening the rear seat belts of the car even if there is no one in the back.

If we carry luggage in the vehicle, fastening the rear seat belts even if no one is there will increase our safety. In this way, if we travel with luggage, fastening the rear seat belts will help prevent the packages that we carry in the rear storage compartment of the vehicle from entering the car in a hypothetical accident. “Seat belts can be fastened to prevent the trunk load from entering the vehicle in the event of a crash” advise from the DGT.

In addition to keeping the rear seat belts fastened, the Traffic Department has also issued a series of tips that we can take into account so that traveling by car is as safe as possible.
