For the fifth consecutive year, the Community of Madrid supports the Pilgrim Race, a mountain bike race that will cover the more than 600 kilometers that separate the capital from Santiago de Compostela, from this Saturday until July 8, to promote cycling tourism and the artistic, cultural and natural values ??of the region.

The route, in which more than 100 participants have registered, allows us to discover the route of the so-called Camino de Santiago de Madrid, which crosses the Sierra del Guadarrama through the Fuenfría pass, crossing the municipalities of Tres Cantos, Colmenar Viejo, Manzanares El Real, El Boalo, Cerceda Mataelpino, Becerril de la Sierra, Navacerrada and Cercedilla, the Madrid government has detailed in a statement.

The first two stages of the Pilgrim Race take place on Madrid soil. Specifically, the race will begin this Saturday at 9 am at the Hotel Ilunion Atrium in Madrid and will end in Cercedilla.

The next day, this mountain town will be the starting point to continue the test towards Olmedo, already in Castilian-Leonese lands. From this point, it will continue through the provinces of Segovia, Valladolid and León and join the Camino de Santiago in Sahagún.

This initiative has two peculiarities. The first is that it runs through two alternative itineraries to the French Way, which connect Puerta del Sol with Plaza del Obradoiro. And, the second is that, of the seven registered teams, three of them, TressisALAPAR, El Motor de tus Pasos and Pedaladas por el Tourette, participate with a charitable purpose.
