The mayor of Zuera and president of the Aragonese Federation of Municipalities, Counties and Provinces (Famcp), Luis Zubieta, died this Saturday after being run over by a car while riding a bicycle on the N-330 road in Aragón, in the municipality of Gurrea de Galician.
Zubieta has just been re-elected as the first mayor of his town in the municipal elections on May 28, in which he won six councilors from the Socialist Party against five from the Popular Party for a third term.
Precisely, the PSOE expressed on its social networks the “desolation and sadness in the socialist family at the news of the death of our comrade Luis Zubieta.”
“All our love to his family and friends in these difficult moments. May the earth be mild to you,” the party’s federal leadership published shortly after his death was known.
According to the Civil Guard, its team of reports went to the scene of the event to find out what happened, as well as the commander of Puesto de Zuera.
