The president of the Madrid-CEOE Business Confederation (CEIM), Miguel Garrido, will do “everything possible” to help bring Formula 1 to Madrid and sees a good approach to do it near Ifema Madrid and at the beginning of September.

“I think the interesting project is for Madrid to enter the agenda and have a Madrid Grand Prix in the coming years,” said the president of the Madrid businessmen in an interview with Europa Press.

Last May, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, indicated that this objective was “very close” and that the talks were going “very well” with the hope of being able to bring it to this legislature. The mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, for his part, guaranteed a few weeks ago that, in the case of arriving in the capital, “inconvenience or inconvenience” would be minimized for the residents.

Garrido has recognized that “it is not easy” to finally make it to Madrid after forty years since the last race was held on the RACE-Jarama circuit, but he is hopeful because Madrid “has everything” to beat the other big cities that They are fighting to gain a foothold in the Formula 1 World Championship.

The president of Ifema Madrid, José Vicente de los Mozos, has already maintained contacts with the person in charge of the championship, Stefano Domenicali, who has received the offer from Madrid to organize this Grand Prix.

De los Mozos has been “optimistic” with the project that he has been working on for a year and a half, for an event that, according to Ifema Madrid forecasts, would generate around 500 million euros a year for the city of Madrid and would mean “zero public aid”.

The president of the Madrid business association believes that “all the efforts” made by the capital to achieve this would be “amply rewarded”, not only because of the economic factor, but also because Madrid’s image would be enhanced internationally.
