Carles Marco, a coach with a great career as a player, will be Roger Grimau’s assistant on the Barça coaching staff, the Barça entity announced on Monday.
Marco has experience on the bench, where he has been an assistant to Manresa in the ACB and head coach at LEB Oro with Oviedo and Palencia, as well as being promoted from LEB Plata with Girona. Last season he was the second coach at Dusko Ivanovic’s Red Star.
As a player, Carles Marco performed at the highest level at Joventut, Manresa, Zaragoza and Sevilla and also wore the national shirt 34 times.
Grimau’s assistants will be Òscar Orellana, Víctor Sada and Xavi Beltran. The first is a coach with extensive experience in the culé coaching staff and in the lower categories of the club, where he has been for 19 years.
Víctor Sada and Xavi Beltran will continue as Roger Grimau’s assistants in the first team, after doing so last season at Barça B, playing in the EBA League, where they finished second in Group C.
As a novelty, the figure of the player development coach will be added, a position that will be held by Rafa Martínez, a former player of Valencia Basket, Manresa or Bilbao Basket, among others, and who will coexist with both the first team and youth basketball.
