On June 26, the Colombian singer Maluma went to the set of El Hormiguero to chat with the presenter Pablo Motos about his new song called Poco Loco, a song that will be included in his new record project Don Juan.

At one point in the interview, Motos put a bottle of Contraluz brand mezcal on the table, in which the guest was an investor. Maluma poured the drink into two glasses and seconds later both he and the presenter toasted in front of the entire audience. And it is that in addition, the bottle was in the foreground for several minutes while the interview continued.

For this reason, now the organization FACUA-consumers in action, has decided to denounce the producer of the Antena 3 space, 7yacción, before the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC). The non-governmental organization denounces the program for covert advertising of an alcoholic beverage during the live broadcast of the space.

FACUA explained in its statement that this bottle of mezcal has 36% alcohol, and that it was exposed for several minutes in a program cataloged for all audiences. In addition, the organization highlighted that allusions to the drink were made in a positive way.

According to the Advertising Law, it would be considered an illegal practice, since it is prohibited to broadcast commercials for alcoholic beverages with a level higher than twenty degrees in all time slots, except from 1:00 to 5:00 in the morning. A normal one that is also included in the General Law of Audiovisual Communication.

FACUA also explained in a press release that the program was aware at the same time that they were breaking the law. “Since Motos himself came to say at one point in the interview “I am going to turn the bottle around so that the label is not seen, otherwise they will scold us,”” they wrote in the statement. From the organization they ask that what happened be investigated by the CNMC, which is the one that has the power to sanction and that the corresponding sanction be imposed on the producer.
