The Senate has made a new requirement this morning to the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to update his income statement before the Upper House.
Through a statement, the president of the Senate, Ander Gil, has recalled that “immediately modifying the declaration of assets, assets and income is the obligation of all senators” and has urged the popular leader to “reflect on his refusal to preserve the transparency required for good governance”.
It should be remembered that on June 27, the president of the Senate gave Feijóo seven days to update his income statement after the PSOE demanded to know if he received any “extras” as president of his party.
In this instance, the PP refused to comply with the request of the president of the upper house, Ander Gil, whom the popular ones accused of acting on the dictates of the PSOE.
A week later, and after Feijóo’s refusal to meet the Senate’s request, Gil has released another statement clarifying that “nothing is asked of him that is not asked of the rest of the parliamentarians of the Cortes Generales”, adding that “the obligation of the Senator Núñez Feijóo to update his declaration of assets and income before this Chamber, it is not established by this Presidency”, but “it is established by current legislation”.
