Pepe El Marismeño is one of those names that, despite not remembering where they come from, one always hears in one way or another. The Huelva-born cantaor has lavished little on public events for some time now, especially since he ended his relationship with Carmina Ordoñez. But the artist returned to the public image a few days ago, in one of the most famous events in recent years.
The creator of records such as “Si te contara yo” or “Cambio de vía” posed again for the cameras last weekend, during the well-known birthday party for José Luis López, alias “El Turronero”. El Marismeño was one of the nearly 3,500 guests who filled the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in Seville and who, for approximately fourteen hours, turned the Andalusian capital into “the mother of all parties.”
The man from Huelva posed accompanied by his family, in an image in which journalists from the world of the heart highlighted his surprising physical change. A detail that the artist shared with the media, highlighting how he happened as a result of giving up drugs. This transformation and the consequences of the detox were frightening for him, but now he takes advantage of it to help those like him who are also experiencing similar problems.
“I started to destroy my life at the age of 14. I tried alcohol and that’s when everything changed”, the cantaor explained about his problems. Some inconveniences that were aggravated by his failed relationship with Carmina Ordoñez, a link that he now calls toxic and that, according to his words, began because they both “liked to party a lot.” The death of the socialite in 2004 pushed Pepe to take a step forward, something that he would achieve two years later.
It was in 2006 when El Marismeño opened his own detoxification clinic, the Instituto Galeano, in Seville. Since then, the cantaor has stayed clean and helped other drug addicts to overcome their addiction. “That decision was so positive, the change so brutal, that it turned my life around tremendously. I was able to get out of that hell and today I fight to help many others get it too. If you want, you can. It is a very rewarding job ”, he told the media.
This story is just one of the many that came out of the birthday party of “El Turronero”. From the criticism of Rosa López for her performance at the ceremony, to the photograph shared between Chenoa and Elena Tablada, almost twenty years after her scuffle as they were both ex-partners of David Bisbal. A host of anecdotes and vicissitudes that were experienced last weekend in Seville.
