“The distance between footballers and journalists today is detrimental to everyone”, has been one of the most outstanding reflections launched by the editor-in-chief of Sports of La Vanguardia, Joan Josep Pallàs, in an exclusive meeting with subscribers of the newspaper held this afternoon at the Casa Seat in Barcelona and which has been moderated by the deputy director Enric Sierra.

How could it be otherwise, FC Barcelona, ??Joan Laporta and Leo Messi were also protagonists of the meeting, which began with Pallàs remembering when he started in this profession “and you could speak directly with the players and not as that it has been bunkered a lot, I think excessively ”. Pallàs considered this distancing “very harmful” both for journalists and for footballers. “Now the players communicate unilaterally with the public and there is no way to know anything more about them.”

The recent interview with Laporta published on Monday was highly commented at the meeting, beginning “with the funniest part of his diet.” The president of Barça said that his vital signs were perfect but that the last check-up had been done 11 years ago and he talked about the diet that he follows: eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.

A subscriber to the newspaper asked him if the optimistic image of Laporta is sincere. “She is not faked or faked”, answered Pallàs. “His personality is almost reckless optimism but so far it has worked for him; Now we have to see how far he will go because the club’s debt is enormous ”. He gave the Negreira case as an example of how optimism works for him: “Many people thought that there would be a sanction from UEFA and it has not been like that, as he said.”

On why Messi has not finally returned to Barça this summer, Pallàs said that it was closely related to what happened two years ago. “Messi didn’t want to go through that again; he wanted to return as normal and now it was not possible ”. He was also convinced that Messi will return to Barcelona when the new Barça stadium is inaugurated and there is his tribute match. “Everything he has given this player is priceless; if you like football, Messi is the best he has gone through.”
