New chapter in the divorce of Kevin Costner and his already ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner. At the beginning of May, the couple put an end to their relationship. A decision made by the still wife of the protagonist of Yellowstone, who cited the usual “irreconcilable differences” in the documents presented to the courts, after almost two decades of marriage.

A divorce that caught her husband by surprise, who until then maintained what he thought was an idyllic relationship with his wife. However, the passing of the weeks has revealed that, far from cordial, her divorce promises to become a real pitched battle. First, because Christine refused to leave the family home, something that Costner had to put in the hands of the judge. Luckily for the actor, justice is on her side, and her ex has been ordered to leave before the end of this month.

As reported by the TMZ portal, Baumgartner refused to move from the family home -owned by the actor-, despite being stipulated in the prenuptial contract he signed with Costner before getting married and having received more than 1.2 million euros to find a new residency for a reason: to be able to put pressure on her still-husband on economic issues.

Her refusal, therefore, would have caused Kevin Costner’s legal team to take action on the matter and put it in the hands of the courts to force her to leave there. The judge has agreed with him in this case and validates the existing prenuptial contract. According to the aforementioned portal, Baumgartner would have tried to extend her stay, alleging that she needs to plan her transfer “with caution”, but the judge has been blunt, dismissing her excuses for lacking “merit”.

On July 31, therefore, the ex-wife of the protagonist of Dances with Wolves must have left the actor’s home, despite having claimed that she did not have enough money to do so – counting on the millionaire sum contributed by her already ex-husband- .

This judicial decision, although a legal victory for the actor, will cause him more headaches in the near future. The legal team of his ex-wife is working to try to legally declare that prenuptial contract of 2004 invalid. However, this sentence seems to portend what is to come next November, when the faces will be seen again in the court.

A moment that will be very important for her, because if she declares herself valid, she must return all the money that her ex-husband has advanced to her, in addition to the costs of her lawyers.

Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner began their relationship in 1998 and, after a six-year courtship, they married in 2004. Their relationship has been at least idyllic for the past two decades, with their three children and very focused on their family life. The reasons that could have precipitated their divorce, for now, only they know; but just a few weeks ago they both posed at different events and there was nothing to suspect that things were going wrong between them.

This is the second divorce for Costner, after his marriage to Cindy Silva, which ended in 1994. Costner also has four other children from previous relationships: Annie (39), Lily (36), Joe (35) -fruit from his marriage to Silva- and Liam Costner (26), whose mother is Bridget Rooney, with whom the actor had a brief relationship in the late 90s.
