A strong storm of rain and hail has fallen this afternoon in Zaragoza, unloading in just under an hour up to 54.2 liters per square meter in some points. This has caused some flooding and various incidents in different parts of the city.
On social networks, there are several users who have shared photographs and videos of the consequences of the downpour that has hit the Aragonese capital hard.
Cars stuck in the streets, flooded roads, and people on top of their vehicles or in the highest part of the trees to avoid being swept away by the water are some of the most spectacular images that the storm has left behind.
The most serious situation has occurred in the Via Tercer Cinturón, at the height of the Barranco de la Muerte, and firefighters and divers have had to act in some cases.
According to El Heraldo, citing the Civil Guard of Zaragoza, due to the storm, the A-23 highway in the Teruel direction has been cut, as well as the Z-40 with the Z-30.
The tram service has also had to be cut and numerous bus lines have to be diverted, as has the circulation of trains between the Aragonese capital and Barcelona, ??which has been interrupted this afternoon.
According to the Armed Institute, the main damages are in the area of ??Cuarte de Huerva and Cadrete. There are no personal injuries, “but there are houses, premises and basements flooded.” However, El Heraldo also points out that the water level in the affected areas is already dropping.
The hail that has fallen in the last few hours in Zaragoza is of considerable size. For its part, the La Paz health center has also been affected: the roof has expired in some areas and also registers leaks.
The storm cell has also affected homes, premises and ground floors in Cuarte de Huerva and in Burgo se Ebro, a municipality where eight people, four of them minors, have been evacuated from two homes in a preventive manner due to the entry of water in the building in which they live.
According to the weather forecast, tomorrow, Friday, Zaragoza will be one of the provinces that will be on a yellow warning due to storms with hail and strong gusts of wind, as well as rain that can leave more than 15 liters per square meter.
