In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can contemplate the altocumulus sky from Plaça Catalunya in Sant Boi de Llobregat forming a spectacular dome of clouds with touches of an intense purple color at dawn.
The presence of a layer of medium clouds, altocumulus stratiformis, coinciding with sunrise, has led to this spectacular color and texture in the sky.
These types of clouds, an anticipation of the change in weather, are the ones that generate the most colorful skies if they coincide at the instant just before sunrise and in a position when the star, still below the horizon, is already illuminating them.
These altocumulus clouds form an extensive crust. This type of cloud forms when light, steady winds manage to carry moist air above the low levels of the atmosphere.
But, when encountering strong mid-level winds, the moist air mass condenses into a cloud.
