Summer is approaching and, therefore, the desire to go out, to party, to the beach and pool, and of course to enjoy the coolness under the radiant sun. A sensation, that of freshness, that exudes La boca aigua (Primavera Labels), Renaldo’s fourth album

Is it a disc that communicates in some way with the previous one?

It communicates in a more internal mental sense, when doing it, than perhaps in the result. I felt comfortable with the slightly more electronic and rhythmic sound of the previous record, and with this new project I felt I could continue in that vein.

Don’t you miss instruments, have you had enough of electronics?

It’s an album that I made very much alone, laying out on the computer for many months. These sounds allow you to immediately sound good, without the need for many people playing instruments. It doesn’t change that much, at least in the case of this record, from how the demo was to the final result.

The mouth watering has a happy sound, but the lyrics are not so much.

I’m more interested in whether the lyrics fit well with the melody, I don’t expressly make very sad lyrics with super happy music. I keep adding elements and it ends up being more lively, but there is a certain consistency sometimes with the energy of the song. There are songs on this album that are written while being angry, and the music is joyful because what it does is it has energy.

Have you considered switching to Spanish?

The truth is that no, I feel very comfortable writing in Catalan, it’s how I almost always speak, while I speak Spanish with very few people. At the same time I also feel that I have found my personality singing as I speak. I sing in Lleida because I speak in Lleida, I try to be faithful to a language that I use on a daily basis. Singing in Spanish right now would be a bit strange for me. It is true that as a challenge or as an artistic thing I do find it interesting, but just to try it, from a more personal perspective I am not particularly attracted.
