Although Cristina Tárrega’s life without filters sinks in audience, it continues to give voice to numerous testimonies. One of the guests of the program was Ivonne, a woman who lives in a van because her house is occupied by a friend who she wanted to help.

Ivonne’s unusual lifestyle began in May 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. To help a lifelong friend who had been evicted, Ivonne offered her her family home. The guest, who lives with her dog, even drew up a rental agreement, but she never received any payment. Currently, her friend and her husband live there, rejecting any attempt to evict them, thus becoming squatters.

In the attempt to solve the situation, Ivonne has had to resort to extreme measures, coming to live on the doorstep of her own house to urge them to leave the place. She even proposed to share the house, which consists of two floors, with the couple, who initially seemed to agree.

However, after allowing him to take some belongings with him, they prevented him from going back inside. “Inside I have my father’s ashes and I cannot bury him because he wanted to be buried in that house,” Ivonne recounted with regret.

Meanwhile, Ivonne has made her home in her van. “I’m like snails,” she teased herself. “I have my bed and underneath I have the food and the food pots.” Her basic needs, such as cleaning, are met with the help of the Red Cross or following ancient practices such as washing with basins.

Yvonne told her story with the hope that her situation will be resolved soon, stressing that her only intention was to help a friend in need. “I offered her my house because I don’t use it,” she recalled, an altruistic gesture that has unfortunately left her without a home.
