The Civil Guard has investigated the driver of a high-end tourism for a crime against road safety for speeding. The person investigated was driving at 211 kilometers per hour when the speed on the section of the road was 110.
On June 13, around 2:50 p.m., within the surveillance and control functions that the patrols belonging to the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Alicante have been carrying out on the vehicles that transit through the province, and Specifically, those that carry out controls on the speed at which it circulates, detected a tourism that was circulating with excess speed on the AP-7 Highway as it passed through the municipality of Orihuela.
The vehicle was intercepted by troops from the Torrevieja Traffic Detachment in a static speed control, and it was verified that it was traveling at a speed of 211 kilometers per hour on a section of the road whose limit was 110 km/h. The driver, and only occupant, was a 35-year-old Spanish man, resident in the town of Pilar de la Horadada.
Due to these facts, the driver of the tourism has been investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety when driving at a speed greater than 80 kilometers per hour than the legally permitted interurban road on which he was driving.
The agents have investigated the proceedings, which have been forwarded to Orihuela Investigating Court number 1, where the driver has been summoned for speedy trial.
This type of crime is included in article 379 of the Penal Code, and can be punished alternatively with a prison sentence of three to six months or with a fine of six to twelve months or with work for the benefit of the community of thirty-one to ninety days, and, in any case, with the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period of more than one and up to four years.
