Since its premiere on Cuatro in 2016, the First Dates program has left news and anecdotes for all tastes. From the most irreverent suitors to the most unexpected rejections, going through tender and intimate moments, the Mediaset space has managed to accommodate love and find multiple partners over the course of seven years on the air. Its last season is not being less, and has presented viewers with the most diverse characters.
The last to go to prosperity were Pedro and Mercedes. At 92 and 81 years old respectively, this couple was trying to give love a chance at a very experienced stage of life. However, things did not turn out as his presenter Carlos Sobera would have imagined.
As soon as they started, it became clear that they both led styles and rhythms of life that were very contrary to each other. In Pedro’s case, healthy physical condition was his priority, while Mercedes was calmer.
To get the date off to a good start, they both started practicing some dance steps, to the rhythm of the cha-cha-chá. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work as they imagined. Pedro’s movements were too fast and intense, to the point that Mercedes refused to keep up with him. “You don’t have to do that,” he told her, being a great connoisseur of that style. According to her words, it was not at all necessary to do it so quickly. Flowing and feeling the music was more than enough.
The start wasn’t too positive, but it didn’t get any better as the night progressed. During his dinner in the restaurant, Pedro boasted of being able to climb steps “in threes”, while his partner declared herself in love with classical music, art and ancient architecture.
The energetic suitor revealed that he frequented the gym every day, and that in total he did more than four hours of daily exercise. In addition, his diet consisted of water, vegetables and fruits in its entirety.
Despite the incredible physical performance and all the series she could do in the gym, Mercedes was not at all interested in that facet of Pedro: “I don’t know how much muscle he will have, but it doesn’t suit me.” To make matters worse, the situation did not improve when the person concerned told him another curious daily routine: “I fill the sink with cold water and then I put a large piece of ice in it. I brush my entire body: my feet, my back… And something else there is, which is very good, is the genital bath”.
Mercedes could not do anything but appear surprised and laugh as best she could during her private interventions. “These things make me laugh, I have a sense of humor and I consider that… Bless his soul! He is the typical Spanish man who believes that he is an example to follow and for me the example to follow is something else”, recounted the protagonist, who definitely confirmed that this man was not too close to his type.
