The ‘face to face’ between Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo sweeps audiences. The debate offered by Atresmedia this Monday pitted the two main candidates for the Presidency of the Government, reaching an incredible 46.5% share, bringing together more than 5.9 million viewers.
According to the data offered by the consultancy Dos30′, some 11,357,000 unique viewers came to synchronize the debate between the leader of the PSOE and the PP for at least one minute. In this way, Antena 3 would have gained 6,820,000 unique viewers compared to 6,004,000 for La Sexta.
It has become the most watched non-sports broadcast of the year, and the second in share after the Eurovision 2023 voting (47.6%). As for the channels, Antena 3 was the option most chosen by Spaniards with a 25.1% share and 3,194,000 viewers, while laSexta also gained 21.4% and 2,716,000.
Antena 3 was the leading channel during the first hour of the debate, and laSexta led the second. Regarding the golden minute of this intense ‘face to face’, adding both channels, it was 6,360,000 viewers, taking place at 10:45 p.m. Despite the data, this debate does not reach the great debates that took place between the PSOE leader, José Luis Zapatero, and the PP leader, Mariano Rajoy, a debate that reached 13,043,000 viewers.
Despite overwhelming the competition, the electoral debate suffered the consequences of the month in which it took place, since summer brings with it a drop in television consumption in our country.
According to Barlovento Comunicación, in the golden minute (10:45 p.m.) the candidates for the presidency of the Government discussed a possible agreement so that, after the general elections, the list with the most votes would govern and not the party that lost.
Regarding gender, Dos30′ indicates that the Atresmedia debate was widely watched by men, both through Antena 3 (26%) and La Sexta (24.4%), while the share of women stood at a 24.3% and 18.9%. By territories, Antena 3 stood out in Castilla La Mancha (34%), Castilla y León (32.5%) and Galicia (31.8%). In La Sexta, face to face exceeded the average in Murcia (28%), Galicia (26.7%), ‘Rest’ (25.1%) and Madrid (25%).
